National Expansion
Published in Alberta since 2017, Dementia Connections was originally launched as a regional magazine for those in the Calgary area. Yet from the start, the stories we’ve told and advice we’ve shared have resonated with people across all of Canada — and beyond.
Which is why Dementia Connections has become more than a magazine – we are now a social purpose company on a mission to amplify the voices of lived experience and share expert advice about living well with dementia. Our goal is to reach even more Canadians with our inspiring stories, expert advice and the latest developments in dementia care and research. We now combine print publications with an information-rich website and newsletter program to provide timely, pertinent and well-rounded content to continuously provide the information and tools, together with hope and inspiration, that support our readers to manage the challenges that dementia can bring. Our original editorial content is guided by a deeply-experienced, diverse Editorial Advisory Board and is produced by professional writers and graphic designers, in a lively lifestyle tone, with high quality custom photography and evidence-based information.
Join the Dementia Connections community and support people living with dementia, their care partners and family members from coast to coast to coast to live well with dementia.
Founder
Dementia Connections magazine was founded in 2017 by Lisa Poole in response to challenges accessing dementia-related health and social supports. Lisa developed the magazine to reduce stigma and increase public awareness, to improve access to supports and services for families impacted by dementia, to encourage participation in research and to serve as a resource for the healthcare workforce.
